THE LAWYERS AT FLEURY, COMERY LLP
Our clients might be interested in some background information
about the lawyers at this firm.
EDWARD FLEURY, Q.C.
Ed founded this practice in 1957 after his call to the bar
that year. Some of his first and enduring clients were patrons of
his father’s tavern business at the old Glen Eagle Hotel,
where Ed himself had worked part time to support himself in law
school. While initially Ed took on any kind of case, he quickly
began to specialize in real estate and corporate/commercial
matters after Bill Comery (deceased, 2008) became his partner in the
firm in 1960.
Ed has been active in local affairs over the years, including
a term as Chairman of the Scarborough Centenary Hospital where he
remains an active board member. He is also an avid golfer and is
a long standing member and former president of the Scarborough
Golf Club. Ed’s favourite kind of case involves municipal
and administrative matters including appeals to tribunals such as
the Ontario Municipal Board and the Assessment Appeal Board.
GREGORY E. McCONNELL, M.A., LL.B.
Originally from Woodstock, Ontario, Greg attended Carleton
University, York University and finally the University of Toronto
to complete an M.A. in History. After a four-year stint as a
teacher in Thailand, Greg decided on law as his career. He
graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and then was called to the
bar in 1983. For five years he articled and then practised law as
a junior to a well-respected personal injury lawyer, Paul
Shannon. During this time he came to deal with Bill Comery (now
deceased), and
in 1986 Greg moved to Fleury, Comery.
Greg will conduct most kinds of litigation including
commercial disputes, divorces, construction liens, estate
litigation and even dog bite cases. Greg is the firm’s
computer expert. He helped establish our web site as one of the
first law firm web sites in Scarborough. Greg’s community
involvement includes several years as Chairman of our local
Heritage Festival, of which he remains an active committee
member. His favourite cases, such as estate litigation and appeal
work, involve legal research and writing where it can make a
difference.
STEPHEN FLEURY, B.Sc., LL.B.
Yes, Stephen is related to Ed, namely, as his nephew. Stephen
joined the firm in 1992 and has distinguished himself as a
litigator in family law and employment law. Stephen also
practices in the areas of Wills and Estates, and collection
matters.
Stephen keeps himself busy outside the office with his young
family, and involvement as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Stephen’s favourite kind of cases are trial matters.
PETER J. SIALTSIS, B.B.A., B.A., LL.B.
Peter Sialtsis is a long-time resident of the West Hill area
and returned to the community to join the firm in March of 2003.
After completing his articles in London, Ontario, Peter worked as
a research assistant with the Practice Advisory department of the
Law Society until his Call to the Ontario Bar in 2000. Peter
has practiced in the real estate, wills/estates,
corporate/commercial and civil litigation areas since his Call.
Peter completed his undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier
University, with a degrees in Business Administration and in

LLP Peter practices primarily in the areas of real estate,

hockey official, umpire in OBA and minor baseball with Softball
Ontario. His favourite types of work involve negotiating
agreements of all types, and he particularly enjoys assisting
first-time buyers in the purchase of their new homes.
DANIEL S. SAVOIE, B.A., LL.B.
Daniel is a Scarborough native who, like Peter, did his law
school training outside Ontario, specifically, at the University
of New Brunswick in Fredericton. Daniel completed his Articling
term at our firm and was called to the Bar in June, 2011. He
commenced as a junior associate immediately thereafter. We have
come to admire Daniel's incisive analysis and excellent research
skills, and we know he is going provide outstanding service and
